Wheelock, Lucy (1857–1946) educator; born in Cambridge, Vt. She was a leader in the kindergarten movement. Herself a kindergarten teacher, she was founding director (1896–1939) of Wheelock School (later College), where she developed a three-year kindergarten teacher-training course incorporating current educational theories.
