Windows Server 2003
The .NET version of the Windows 2000 server operating system. Introduced in the spring of 2003, it was originally known as .NET Server 2003. Similar to the Windows 2000 offerings, Windows Server 2003 is available in several versions. The Enterprise and Datacenter Editions are geared for mission critical applications with support for clustering, failover and load balancing. They are also available in 64-bit versions for Intel's IA-64 architecture. The Web Edition is designed for hosting a Web site. Today's introduction of the Escala IL servers significantly expands the Escala product range and makes it the most open of all 64-bit server ranges in the market, embracing two processor architectures (Escala PL servers based on a RISC architecture and Escala IL based on the Intel(R) Itanium(TM) architecture) and three complementary operating systems (64-bit Linux(R), Microsoft(R) Windows(R) Whistler Server and AIX(R)/AIX 5L(TM)).
At its SEUGI Users Conference here, SAS ran its software on multiple operating systems using the Intel(R) Itanium(TM) processor, which will include IBM's AIX 5L, HP-UX from Hewlett Packard and Microsoft's Windows XP workstation and Whistler Server Limited Edition platforms.
announced today at the RSA Show held here this week a new program in which the Company, known for its high-assurance PKI systems and personal identity products, will develop a fully featured Registration Authority (RA) for the forthcoming Whistler Server Certificate Authority (CA).
