White-Eyes

White-Eyes 

(Zosteropidae), a family of small birds of the order Passeriformes. A ring of silky white feathers surrounds the eyes; the back is green. There are 85 species, occurring mainly in subtropical and tropical regions of the eastern hemisphere. Nests are cup-shaped, in trees or bushes; there are two to three eggs to a clutch. The white-eyes feed mainly on insects and also on berries and seeds. In the USSR the Chinese white-eye (Zosterops erythropleurus) is found in the lower reaches of the Amur and in Primor’e Krai.
