Whitehead, John Cunningham

Whitehead, John Cunningham (1922–  ) investment executive; born in Evanston, Ill. Son of a telephone lineman, educated at Haverford College and Harvard, he joined Goldman, Sachs & Co. in 1947, became a partner in 1956, and was senior partner and co-chairman from 1976–84. He served as a deputy secretary of state in the Reagan Administration (1985–89) before returning to the private sector as chairman of AEA Investors, Inc. (New York City).
