Willstätter, Richard (rĭkh`ärt vĭl`shtĕtər), 1872–1942, German chemist. He was professor at the Kaiser Wilhelm Institute of Chemistry, Berlin (1912–16), and at the Univ. of Munich (1916–25). He received the 1915 Nobel Prize in Chemistry for his work on chlorophyll and on anthocyanins (red, blue, and violet plant pigments). His later work was on the assimilation of carbonic acids in plants and on the chemical composition of enzymes. How to thank TFD for its existence?
