Win Technical details
There are several ways to obtain your computer's hardware and software configuration (see below). In addition, Device Manager provides details about peripheral devices and drivers (see Win Device Manager), and you can find out just how fast your Win7 or Vista computer really is (see Windows Experience Index).

The Basics
To view basic information about the OS, CPU, disk and memory, go to the Start menu and right click Computer (Win7 and Vista) or My Computer (XP) and select Properties.

Very Technical
Not for the faint of heart, System Information reports excruciating details about everything in this list.

Windows 7, Vista and XP
1. Click Start Menu/All Programs/Accessories.
2. Select System Tools/System Information.
