Following are a number of ways to help you use Windows.

MOVE TASKBAR TO A DIFFERENT PART OF THE SCREEN
Click on any uncovered area on the Taskbar and drag it to any extreme side of the screen.

HIDE TASKBAR UNTIL NEEDED
Right click on any uncovered area button on the Taskbar. Select Properties and Auto Hide.

FAST WAY TO GET EXPLORER
Right click Start menu and select Explore.

SHOW EXTENSIONS WITH FILE NAMES
Windows defaults to not showing the file extensions at the end of the file name, which is bizarre, since the many different file types (JPEGs, GIFs, DOC files, etc.) are a major part of the computing experience. To change the default to show the extensions, see Win Show file extensions.

SHOW HIDDEN FILES AND FOLDERS
You can display all hidden files and folders in your Explorer views. See Win Show hidden files and folders.

RUN PROGRAMS AT STARTUP
You can set up Windows to run your programs automatically every time you turn the computer on. See Win Startup folder.

RECONNECT TO A PERIPHERAL NOT TURNED ON AT STARTUP
If a peripheral was turned off when you boot up, the application may not recognize it until Windows rescans the hardware. See Win Rescan peripherals.

VIEW SYSTEM DETAILS
You can view more information about your computer system by launching the System Information utility.

Windows Vista and XP
1. Click Start Menu/All Programs/Accessories.
2. Select System Tools/System Information.

Windows 2000
1. Click Start Menu.
2. Select Programs/Settings/Control Panel.
3. Select Administrative Tools.
4. Select Computer Management.
5. Select System Tools.
6. Select System Summary.

Windows 98
1. Click Start Menu.
2. Select Programs/Accessories/System Tools.
3. Click System Information.
