At the top of every window is the title bar, which displays the name of the application. When a window is currently selected, its bar changes color and becomes the "Active" title bar.

Title Bars
Only one window is "active" on screen at any moment. All the rest are "inactive" and grayed. Double clicking the bar maximizes the window or restores it if it is already maximized.
