Wind Creek State Park Location: 7 miles southeast of Alexander City in east central Alabama. Facilities: 626 modern campsites (é), comfort stations, picnic areas (é), group pavilions (é), hiking trails (about 8 miles total), marina, fishing pier, camp store, snack bar, playground; 10 camping cabins are under construction, with 3 now open. Activities: Camping, boating, fishing, swimming, hiking. Special Features: Park is situated along the shores of 41,000-acre Lake Martin and offers the nation's largest state-run campgrounds. Many of the campsites are waterfront, allowing campers to fish, swim, and launch boats from their own sites.
