Windom, William

Windom, William (1827–91) U.S. representative/senator; born in Belmont, Ohio. A lawyer before going to the U.S. House of Representatives (Rep., Minn.; 1859–69), he went mid-term to the Senate (1870–83). He practiced law in New York City, then became Secretary of the Treasury (1889–91).
