Windows 7 Libraries An organizational feature of the Windows 7 file system that provides a top-level view into files and folders. Windows 7 comes with four Libraries (Documents, Music, Pictures and Videos) that display at the top of the Explorer hierarchy. Each Library displays the contents of the My Documents, My Music, My Pictures and My Videos folders for the current user in the Users folder. Any changes made in the "My" folders is reflected in the Libraries and vice versa. In addition, Libraries can be added and deleted as they are only "shortcuts" to the real folders.Create a Library - Include a Folder Users can create and name their own Libraries and specify which existing folders on the hard disk are "included." Like the standard four Libraries, user-created Libraries are displayed at the top of the Explorer hierarchy. Subfolders can be created in the "included" folders in the Library, and they are physically created in the real folder. If the Library is deleted, the subfolder and its data remain with the real folder. Optimized by Content Type Library contents are optimized for fast searching based on content type, and users can identify the libraries they create as Documents, Music, Pictures, Video or General. See Windows 7.
