Winslow, Cameron McRae (wĭnz`lō), 1854–1932, American naval officer, b. Washington, D.C. He served on the Nashville in the Spanish-American War, and for his heroism off Cienfuegos, Cuba—where he commanded an expedition that cut the cables between Cuba and Europe—he was advanced five numbers in rank. Winslow was (1905) naval aide to President Theodore Roosevelt and in 1911 was promoted to rear admiral. He served (1911–13) as commander in the Atlantic Fleet and later (1915–16) was commander in chief of the Pacific Fleet.
