Wolf, Eric R. (Robert) (1923– ) anthropologist; born in Vienna, Austria. He emigrated to the U.S.A. in 1940. His academic career included teaching at Herbert Lehman College, City University of New York (1971). His work on peasant cultures and their integration into industrialized societies included fieldwork in Puerto Rico, Mexico, and Italy. He wrote Peasants (1966) and Peasant Wars of the Twentieth Century (1969).
