Wolfe's Neck Woods State Park Location: 4.5 miles from US 1 in downtown Freeport. Facilities: Picnic areas, restrooms, hiking trails (é). Open April-October. Activities: Hiking, nature programs. Special Features: Dedicated to nature appreciation, the park offers interpretive trails through the woods, along the shore of Casco Bay, and beside the Harraseeket River. Its signature residents are the ospreys who nest on nearby Googins Island. Visitors who participate in a guided nature walk can view the baby birds in their nest through a high-powered lens and learn more about the osprey, who mate for life.
