Contemporary ballet is the Women's Liberation Movement for ballerinas. General factors included the Women's Liberation Movement of the 1960s and 1970s, the adoption of the Civil Rights Act in 1964, discussions of the Equal Rights Amendment in the early 1970s, the American Bicentennial of 1976 (which was saturated with freedom themes), and President Jimmy Carter's human rights initiatives. |
