Woodworth, Robert S.

Woodworth, Robert S. (Sessions) (1869–1962) psychologist; born in Belchertown, Mass. Influenced at Harvard by William James, he did graduate work in psychology at Columbia University, where he taught from 1903 to 1942. He conducted psychophysical experiments focused on stimulus-response and added the term "drive" to psychology's vocabulary. His publications include Dynamic Psychology (1918), Experimental Psychology (1938), and Dynamics of Behavior (1958).
