Special OlympicsInternational sports program for people with intellectual disability. It provides year-round training and athletic competition in a variety of Olympic-type summer and winter sports for participants. Inaugurated in 1968 through the efforts of Eunice Kennedy Shriver and the Chicago Park District, the Special Olympics was officially recognized by the International Olympic Committee in 1988. | Cameron Williams of La Jolly-based Duffy, Kruspodin & Company has been selected to represent the United States at the 2005 Olympics World Winter Games in Nagano, Japan as a floor hockey referee. Christina was one of six members of Team Virginia competing in the Special Olympics World Winter Games, Anchorage. They helped officially announce that the 2001 Special Olympics World Winter Games will be held in Anchorage, Alaska, March 4-11. |
