WorldGate

    0.01 sec.

(WorldGate Communications, Inc., Trevose, PA, www.wgate.com) A company founded in 1995 to provide Internet access over your existing TV cable. The technology, which used an advanced cable set-top box and wireless keyboard, transmitted Web data via the vertical blanking interval between TV frames. Citing industry delays in the adoption of ITV services, WorldGate changed direction and sold its interactive television intellectual property in 2003 to TVGateway, LLC. WorldGate's primary product became the Ojo personal videophone, which allows visual communication at up to 30 frames per second using 150 kbps of broadband bandwidth obtained by cable and DSL providers.
