In southern WV, southwest of Beckley; organized Jan 26, 1850 from Logan County. Name Origin: For the Wyoming Valley of PA; the name was popularized by the 1809 Thomas Campbell (1777-1844) poem "Gertrude of Wyoming" about the Indian attack on the Wyoming Valley in 1778
