Y (B-Y) (R-Y) Refers to the formula used to convert RGB into the various signals used for TV/video. This designation is also found on video equipment to represent analog component video inputs and outputs, although they are also designated as Y, Pb and Pr (YPbPr). The Y represents the luma (brightness), and B-Y and R-Y represent color difference signals. For TV/video storage and transmission, RGB signals are converted to either YUV (NTSC/PAL composite video), YPbPr (component analog) or YCbCr (component digital). See YPbPr, YCbCr, YUV and YUV/RGB conversion formulas. How to thank TFD for its existence?
