Yün Tai-Ying

Yün Tai-Ying 

Born 1895 in Wuch’ang; died 1931 in Nanking. Figure in the Communist Party of China (CPC); participant in the patriotic May Fourth Movement of 1919. Member of the CPC from 1921.

From 1923 to 1925, Yün headed the department of agitation and propaganda of the Central Committee of the Chinese Socialist Youth League and was editor in chief of the magazine Chung-kuo ch’ing-nien (Chinese Youth). In 1926 he served as chief political inspector of the Whampoa Military Academy, and in 1927 he became a member of the Central Committee of the CPC. Yün helped to prepare and carry out the Nanch’ang Uprising of 1927 and the Kuang-chou Uprising of 1927. From 1923 to 1930 he held various positions of responsibility in the apparatus of the Central Committee of the CPC.

Yün was captured by members of the Kuomintang in Shanghai in 1930 and secretly executed.
