Yünkang
a mountain in China, northwest of Tat’ung, in Shansi Province. A group of Buddhist cave temples (A.D. 460–545) is located on the slopes of the mountain. Now a museum, the temples consist of more than 60 caves, oval and rectangular in plan, with painted soft sandstone sculpture (460–525); the reliefs and multicolored paintings on the cave walls have been partially preserved.
