Born 1782 in the village of Khur, Jandaq Province, southeastern Iran; died there 1860. Iranian poet. Yaghma Jandaqi lived a life of privation. He distinguished himself in the history of Persian poetry as a lyric poet and satirist. Of particular importance are his satiric narrative poems, in which he subjected the feudal lords and their retinues to scathing criticism; notable examples are The General’s and The Butcher.
