Yerevan Chickens

    0.01 sec.
Yerevan Chickens

a breed of chickens raised for their meat and eggs. This breed was developed in Armenia in the years 1949-60 by crossing the local hens with Rhode Island and Australorp roosters. Yerevan chickens are well adapted to local conditions. The hens weigh 2.2-2.4 kg; the roosters 3.3-3.5 kg. Hens lay 160-180 eggs, which weigh 56-57 g. Yerevan chickens are crossbred with chickens from specialized egg and meat lines to produce chickens with high egg yields and commercial hybrid meat chickens. Yerevan chickens are raised in the Armenian SSR.
