Lisu
a people living mainly in southwestern China, although some live in Burma and Thailand. Total population, about 500,-000 (1967, estimate). The language of the Lisu belongs to the Yi group of the Tibeto-Burman languages. The majority of the Lisu have retained the ancient animistic beliefs, although some have become Christians. In the past, the Lisu had a special priestly caste. The principal occupation of the Lisu is agriculture (corn and rice). REFERENCENarody Vostochnoi Azii.
