Yoshino

Yoshino 

a river on the island of Shikoku in Japan. Length, 236 km. It arises in the central part of the island, on the southernslopes of the Ishizuchi, and flows primarily through the moun-tains until it enters Kii Strait, where it forms a delta. The river’sflow follows a monsoon pattern. Its waters are used to drive ahydroelectric power station and, on its lower stretches, for irriga-tion. The Yoshino is navigable by boats with a shallow draft toa point 70 km from its mouth. The city of Tokushima is locatedalong its course.
