Young, Ammi B. (Burnham) (1798–1874) architect; born in Lebanon, N.H. He designed the Vermont State House, Montpelier (1832), and the Customs House, Boston (1837–47). As the first supervising architect of the Treasury Department (c. 1852–62) he designed many Greek Revival and Italianate public buildings; although traditional in his design, he pioneered in the use of iron in construction.
