Yunkers, Adja (1900–83) printmaker, painter; born in Riga, Latvia. He studied in St. Petersburg, Berlin, Paris, and London, maintained a studio in Stockholm, Sweden (1942–45), emigrated to America, and lived in Albuquerque, N.M. Considered an important woodcut artist working in color, he used a painterly approach to his medium, as seen in the polyptych called Magnificat (1953). How to thank TFD for its existence?
