Zárate

 

a city in Argentina, known as General Uriburu from 1932 to 1946. Population, 55,000 (1970). Zárate is a port on the Paraná River delta. The city has a railroad station. Industries include meat packing, paper milling, zinc smelting, and the production of petrochemicals.
