Zaghlul Pasha, Saad (säd zägl l` päshä`), c.1850–1927, Egyptian nationalist leader, founder of the Wafd Wafd (wŏft), in modern Egyptian history, a political party...... Click the link for more information. party. He suffered both arrest (1882) and exile (1919) for his attempts to end foreign domination in Egypt. Having founded (1919) the Wafd party, he became premier in 1924, but the opposition of Great Britain and the Egyptian court soon forced him to resign.
