Khuriya Muriya Islandsor Kuria Muria IslandsIsland group, Oman. Located in the Arabian Sea off the country's southeastern coast, it comprises five mainly uninhabited islands with a total land area of 28 sq mi (73 sq km). Al-Hallaniyah Island, the largest, is sparsely inhabited. The sultan of Oman ceded the islands to Britain in 1854, and they became part of the British colony of Aden in 1937.
