zinc phosphate [′ziŋk ′fä‚sfāt] (inorganic chemistry) Zn3(PO4)2A white powder that is insoluble in water, soluble in acids and ammonium hydroxide; melts at 900°C; used in coatings for steel, aluminum, and other metals, and in dental cements and phosphors.
