Zinoviev Grigori Yevseevich, original name Ovsel Gershon Aronov Radomyslsky. 1883--1936, Soviet politician; chairman of the Comintern (1919--26) executed for supposed complicity in the murder of Kirov. | Zinovyev, a well known sociologist, writes: "In order to compel a country's citizens to defend it against the enemy, ideology must create a self-congratulatory picture of society--that is to say, highlight and play up its strong points and play down or altogether ignore its shortfalls, presenting the enemy in a highly critical, negative light--i. to listen to the ubiquitous music," complained Zinovyev in the July 24, 1999 issue of France's Le Figaro, "and you'll find them propagating the cult of sex, violence and money. Zinovyev, "the bomb of westernization" exploded in Russia and wrought in it unheard of devastation not only in the sphere of government, economy, ideology and culture but also in human terms. |
