    0.01 sec.
Lodii, Zoia Petrovna

Born June 18 (30), 1886, in Tbilisi; died Dec. 24, 1957, in Leningrad. Soviet Russian singer (lyric soprano) and educator; Honored Art Worker of the RSFSR (1957).

Lodii studied at the St. Petersburg Conservatory (with N. A. Iretskaia) from 1906 to 1908 and continued studying in Milan. In 1912 she began making concert appearances in Russian cities and abroad. Lodii’s highly varied repertoire, which she performed with a subtle feeling for style, included J. B. Weckerlin’s French songs; the romances of A. A. Aliab’ev, M. I. Glinka, P. I. Tchaikovsky, and J. Brahms; and the vocal cycles of Beethoven, Schubert, and Schumann. She taught in the conservatories of Moscow (1930–35) and Leningrad (from 1933; professor, 1939). She received the Order of the Red Banner of Labor and several medals.
