Zolotov, Iurii Aleksandrovich
Born Oct. 4, 1932, in Vysokovsk, Klinskii Raion, Moscow Oblast. Soviet analytical chemist. Corresponding member of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR (1970). Member of the CPSU since 1965. Zolotov graduated from Moscow State University in 1955, whereupon he began working at the Institute of Geochemistry and Analytical Chemistry of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR. His principal works have dealt with extracting inorganic compounds. He has contributed to the theory of extracting chelate compounds and substantiated the hydrate-solvate mechanism of extraction. Zolotov has also discovered the phenomenon of the mutual repression of the extraction of elements when extracting ionic associates and developed a number of methods for separating mixtures of metals. He is the author of the monographs Extraction of Chelate Compounds (1968) and Extraction Concentration (1971, with N. M. Kuz’min). Want to thank TFD for its existence?
