Zoologicheskii Zhurnal 

(Zoological Journal), a scientific journal of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR. It was founded in 1916 by A. N. Severtsov under the title Russkii zoologicheskii zhurnal (Russian Zoological Journal). In 1932 it received its current title. It is published monthly in Moscow. Articles of both Soviet and foreign scientists in such fields of zoology as problems of evolution of the animal world, morphology, taxonomy, classification of fauna, zoogeography, ecology, ethology, hydrobiology, and parasitology are published in Zoologicheskii zhurnal. It also publishes papers of Soviet zoologists on problems relevant to the economy, environmental protection, and public health, as well as critical surveys of new zoological literature. Articles are accompanied by resumes in English. Circulation, approximately 2,300 (1971).
