Zukofsky, Louis (1904–78) poet, writer; born in New York City. He studied at Columbia University (M.A. 1924), and taught at many institutions, notably Colgate (1947–66). He was a translator, but is best known for his innovative and textually demanding Objectivist poetry, as in his series, A (1940–79).
