Ózd
a city in northern Hungary, in the megye (county) of Borsod-Abaúj-Zemplén. Population, 38,600 (1970). Hungary’s oldest center of metallurgical production (since 1843), Ózd has a metallurgical combine. Locally mined lignite serves as the fuel of a steam power plant.
