According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, use an insect repellent with a listed ingredient that includes one of the following: DEET, Picaridin, IR3535, Oil of lemon eucalyptus (OLE), Para-menthane-diol (PMD), or 2-undecanone.
Our study has focused on extraction by steam distillation, physicochemical analysis, gas chromatography coupled with mass spectrometry analysis (GC-MS) and biological activity of essential oils (EOs) obtained from the aerial part of this plant, collected from the region of Hamman Melouane (Blida,Algeria). The results revealed that the extraction yield was 0.4 +- 0.03 % (w/w) and a total of seventeen compounds of essential oils were identified with 2-undecanone (35.51 %), 1- decanol-2 methyl (8.62 %) and 2-dodecanone (6.86 %) appeared as dominated compounds.
If you can't avoid high-risk areas, you can treat your clothing with products containing 0.5% permethrin or use insect repellants that contain DEET, picaridin, IR3535, oil of lemon eucalyptus, paramenthanediol, or 2-undecanone.
Insect repellents containing DEET, picaridin, IR3535, oil of lemon eucalyptus, para-menthane-diol, or 2-undecanone can be applied to the skin, and permethrin can be applied to clothes (especially pants, socks, and shoes).
Similarly, Nacional cacao showed predominant amounts of volatiles with fruity, green, and woody aromas at the end of the fermentation (3 days), including 2-nonanone, 3-octen-1-ol, 2-octanol acetate, 2-undecanone, valencene, and aromadendrene.
2-Undecanone presented 87.18% of total identified components.
Another study tested the efficacy of BioUD (active ingredient 2-undecanone synthesized from wild tomato plants) against I.
Medium-chain fatty acids are shortened by one carbon unit during conversion to a series of methylketones generally with abundance of 2-heptanone > 2-nonanone > 2-pentanone > 2-undecanone, although there is variation between cultures [8-10].
