The results of present study were strongly in favor of these past studies expressing the similar order of frequency of
ABO blood groups. Whereas, several studies from North West Nigeria, Kenya and Ethiopia have shown that blood group O was most prevalent blood group in their population which is different from our findings19-21.
Evidence of correlation between polygenic modes of expression of hypertension, diabetes have been established with ABO genes in mice models, however the exact interlooping of genes is yet to be ascertained as a proper relation is difficult to assess in polygenic expression.4 Several researchers in the past have reported the linkage of obesity with
ABO blood groups,4,5 while some have also disagreed to this relation.2,6 Evidences are also present suggesting the ABO system as a genotype marker for obesity7 but this relationship is still under intense investigation due to these conflicting results.
Ballal et al conducted a study on Indian population to determine the
ABO blood group from control (venous) and pulp.
Liver transplantation across
ABO blood group barriers.
Although
ABO blood group and BMI have individually been appraised as risk factors for certain illnesses, few studies [27-40] have been conducted to examine whether carrying a particular ABO blood antigen potentially predisposes one to higher body mass index.

The
ABO blood group system is classified based on the inherited properties of red blood cells (RBCs).
