In the present study, this analysis included the time needed for the facial nerve suprastapedial lesion to transform to infrastapedial lesion, as assessed by the
acoustic reflex determination, and the time needed for the HB scale score to reach 1, indicating recovery in the groups of patients diagnosed with borreliosis, Bell's palsy and HSV-1 infection.
(c) AR:
Acoustic Reflex; (AR abnormal defined as AR > 110).
(12) While autophony, aural fullness, and a conductive hearing loss may be present in both conditions, a low-frequency conductive hearing loss with subnormal bone conduction, intact
acoustic reflexes, and an enhanced VEMP on the affected side should heighten the suspicion of SCD syndrome.
Presence of a flat Tympanogram or absence of
acoustic reflexes at 1 kHz with contralateral stimulation.
The hearing evaluation consisted of pure tone audiometry; speech audiometry--Speech Recognition Threshold (SRT) and phonemically balanced monosyllabic words and immitance (tympanometry and
acoustic reflexes).
The author told him that the asymmetry was the product of an excessive and unnecessary use of masking, and the otologist agreed that the
acoustic reflex results were consistent with a conductive, not a sensorineural, hearing loss.
Acoustic reflex selectivity: brain stem auditory evoked response and speech discrimination.
Additional measurements may be made during tympanometry, especially the
acoustic reflex and its decay.
The Otogram guides a patient through the following diagnostic hearing tests in approximately 20 minutes: comprehensive audiogram, which includes pure-tone air and bone conduction, speech reception threshold, and speech discrimination, all with masking; tympanometry;
acoustic reflex; and otoacoustic emissions (OAE).
Acoustic reflex testing revealed a cochlear site (moreso on the left) and no reflex decay.
[10] Tympanometry and
acoustic reflex testing were performed with the Grason Stadler 33 Clinical Immittance Bridge (GSI, calibrated in accordance with ANSI's 1987 specifications).
