Acrobat Distiller

Acrobat Distiller

A function in earlier versions of Acrobat that converted PostScript files to PDF. It was later integrated into Acrobat. See Acrobat.

The Job Option box tells the Acrobat Distiller how to create the PDF file by including basic instructions, such as resolution of the final file, the page size, compression, font embedding, RGB or CMYK color space, color profiling information, overprinting specifications, transfer functions, and other required details.
Chapter 6, Creating PDF Files, discusses the use of PDFWriter and Acrobat Distiller, which should be used when creating PDF files from other programs including the Microsoft Office suite.
