Established: 1937.
Location:12 miles north of Thief River Falls on Highway 32.
Facilities:Visitor center, auto tour route, trails, observation tower.
Activities:Hiking, hunting, educational programs, wildlife observation.
Special Features:The refuge is one of only two refuges in the lower 48 states with resident packs of eastern gray wolves.
Habitats: 61,500 acres of wetland, shrubland, forestland, grassland, and cropland.
Access: Open during daylight hours.
Wild life: Moose, gray wolves, ducks, Canada geese, Franklin's gulls, herons, egrets, cormorants, grebes, and white-tailed deer.
