Akinak

 

(Greek akinákës), a short sword (40–60 cm), a thrust weapon used in hand-to-hand fighting by the Persians and Scythians in the middle and the second half of the first millennium B.C. The akinak had a heart-shaped guard between the hilt and the blade and a handle with a flat end in the form of a short crossbar or crescent.
