Faw, Al-
a port in Iraq, at the mouth of the Shatt al-Arab River. The port is used to export oil brought in by pipeline from fields in al-Zubayr and al-Rumaila. In 1972 the combined freight turnover in al-Faw and the port of Khor al-Amaya was 34.8 million tons.
