Al-Masirah

 

an island in the Arabian Sea belonging to Oman. It extends for 70 km along the southeastern coast of the Arabian Peninsula, from which it is separated by the shallow Masirah Channel. Along the coast there are coral reefs in some places. Area, approximately 680 sq km. The terrain consists mainly of plains and hills (elevation, to 276 m) composed primarily of igneous rock and limestone. The climate is dry and tropical and supports little vegetation (xerophytic shrubs and occasional date palms). There is fishing. In the north there is a settlement at Dawwah.

The al-Masirah TV channel reported on Wednesday that Yemeni army soldiers and allied fighters from Popular Committees had fired a Zelzal-1 (Earthquake-1) missile as well as Katyusha rockets at a gathering of mercenaries West of the Saudi town of Haradh.

Both drone attacks targeted "aircraft hangars" in Abha and Jizan airports, according to the rebels' al-Masirah television, which cited a statement from the group's military spokesman Yahya Sarea.

Al-Masirah reported at least 51 people, including 40 children, were killed and 79 others, including 56 children, were wounded in the airstrike, citing the Yemeni Health Ministry in the capital, Sanaa, which is under rebel control.
