Alekseeva, Lidiia Vladimirovna

 

Born July 4, 1924, in Moscow. Soviet basketball player. Honored Master of Sports of the USSR (1950) and Honored Trainer of the USSR (1964). Member of the CPSU since 1964. Champion of the USSR (1947, 1951, 1954, 1956, and 1957) and European Champion (1950, 1952, 1954, and 1956) in basketball.

Alekseeva was captain of the women’s basketball team of the USSR from 1948 to 1957 and the team’s trainer since 1962. Since 1962 her team has won first place in Europe in 1962, 1964, and 1966 and the world in 1964 and 1967. She has been awarded the Order of Lenin.
