Ananke

(ă-nank -ee) A small satellite of Jupiter, one of the planet's many outer satellites, discovered in 1951 by the US astronomer Seth Nicholson (1891–1963). See Jupiter's satellites; Table 2, backmatter.

Ananke

A small satellite of Jupiter with a diameter of about 14 miles (23 kilometers), orbiting with retrograde motion at a mean distance of 1.3 × 107 miles (2.1 × 107 kilometers). Also known as Jupiter XII.
