Archigram

(1960–1975)
Group formed by Peter Cook, Ron Herron, Dennis Crompton, and others, who publicized their ideas through seductive graphics, exhibitions, and the magazine Archigram.

The artist was inspired by the radical, adaptable urban structures proposed in the 1960s by avant-garde architectural collective, Archigram, three of whose founding members were involved in designing the Hayward Gallery.
Architectural renderings took many forms in these years; the radical architectural collective Archigram had set the pace for the graphically unexpected.
There were also emerging design collectives--like Archigram in the UK or Archizoom and Superstudio in Italy--that were questioning the importance of building itself by creating provocative paper architecture.
