His Royal Highness is a supporter of several
architectural conservation societies, including the Kensington Society and the Victorian Society, as well as the International Council on Monuments and Sites, UK National Committee, and is the Patron or President of many charities and organisations.

Alongside Al Adwani Tower, which was damaged in 1985, Khor Fakkan Fort has been rebuilt, with an old souq and mountain houses in Wadi Shie restored under the
architectural conservation and restoration efforts.

But Miles Glendinning, professor of
architectural conservation at the University of Edinburgh, told The Guardian newspaper: "When a building has multiple fires, it doesn't mean that it can't be saved, so long as the shell is still there it is still possible to do." Glendinning pointed to the extensive post-war reconstruction undertaken in Germany, where many key public buildings were damaged by fire some more than once."
Gathering documentary material, recent works from five Mexico City-based artists or collectives, and an
architectural conservation proposal, the exhibition speculated on the fate of the government building, which faces possible demolition because of damage sustained in the catastrophic earthquake of September 19, 2017.
Architectural conservation and the issue of reusing existing buildings versus demolition was also considered and discussed, with a lively panel organised by the local Institution of Structural Engineers and chaired by experienced local engineer Rashad Bukhash of the UAE Architectural Heritage Society.
It said it would also adversely affect the River Liffey Conservation Area and the O'Connell Street and Environs
Architectural Conservation Area.
THE Birmingham and West Midlands Group of the Victorian Society gives an annual award for good
architectural conservation. It was first awarded two years ago to Hortons' Estate for their restoration of the exterior of the Grand Hotel in Birmingham.
